Fragrance Storage and Care

Keep it cool and dark

Heat and sunlight break down fragrance oils faster than anything else. Store bottles away from windows and out of the bathroom, where heat and humidity swing constantly. A drawer, a wardrobe or the original box is ideal.

Leave it sealed

Keep the cap on. Every time air enters the bottle it starts to oxidise the liquid, which dulls the top notes first.

Do not shake it

Shaking introduces air into the bottle. There is nothing in a fragrance that needs mixing.

Applying it

Apply to clean, moisturised skin at the pulse points: wrists, neck, behind the ears. Dry skin holds scent poorly, so an unscented moisturiser first will noticeably extend how long it lasts.

Do not rub your wrists together. It crushes the top notes and shortens the life of the scent.

How long it keeps

Stored well, most fragrances remain good for several years. A noticeable change in colour or a sharp, sour opening usually means a bottle has turned.
